| ******NEWS****** THE STAMPEDE IS ON! STALLION XC is back!!!! SAN JUAN HILLS BOYS RANKED AMONG THE STATE'S BEST ON DYESTATCAL.COM San Juan Hills Stallions (Southern Section) Rich's Ranking Tier Classification: 6 Coach: Dave Burnette & Don Burnette League: Pacific Coast 2008 Finish: 14th in Division IV State Finals Returnees: Everyone returns to improve upon last year's notable finish. 2009 Outlook: Although it certainly would be premature to hail the Stallions as the next mega-power, they've sure made an impressive statement in their first two years of accomplishments. Only a third-year school based in Orange County (it drew students away from Dana Hills and San Clemente), San Juan Hills deservedly invaded the section rankings last year and then held up well "in the fire" of the Fresno wars. How well? Just 38 points out of a top 10 finish in Division III at state -- not bad for a roster comprised ENTIRELY of freshmen and sophomores! Brandon Pugh, one of our post-season freshmen all-state selections, ran 16:40 at Mt. SAC last year and raced to a fine frosh/soph division showing (9:39.40) at the Orange County track championships. He's joined by Billy Bohn and Jacob St. Onge (4:47.22, at left)), both sophomores, with several others quickly flying up the team ranks! |
